Software, gadgets, devices and other stuff I use

Recently it became quite popular to discus what apps and gadgets people are using on a daily basis. I'm also get asked about the things I use to build software and/or stay productive, so here’s a list of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • 13” Macbook Pro M1

My day to day working horse. Don't mind using Linux laptop though. It's always nice to have a choice

  • 27” LG QHD Ergo IPS Monitor

Has everything I personally need out of the box - large enough, all axis adjustable stand, calibrated colors, all necessary inputs and outputs

  • Durgod Taurus K320 Nebula RGB

Mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Speed Silver switches and customizable backlighting

  • Razer DeathAdder V2 X Hyperspeed

Comfortable wireless mouse for palm-style grip that uses interchangeable batteries. Love it

Development tools

  • VS Code

Used to code in Sublime Text 3, but at some point switched to VS Code. I wish it was faster and more snappy though

  • Sourcetree

One of the most user-friendly GUI's for Git. I'm a visual person and I like to see and interact with stuff. Maybe one day I will become a "keyboard ninja" to finally master console git commands

  • TablePlus

A user-friendly GUI for deep diving into a database. Supports almost any DB you can think of - PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, CockroachDB, Redis, MongoDB and others

Design

  • Figma

Industry standard for UI Design, which I absolutely love. If you are still not using Figma for some reason - go a nd give it a good try

  • Pixelmator Pro

Image editor for Mac that is simple, yet very powerful, and fast. Way more convenient and efficient than Photoshop in many cases

  • Adobe Photoshop

Photoshop is great for the kind of task that only Photoshop can handle. When you use it for things it was actually created for, it's really good

Productivity

  • Brave Browser

Free, safe, no ads or tracking shenanigans browser for desktop and mobile with sync. What else would you possibly want

  • Obsidian

Insanely versatile and powerful note taking app. It's so amazing that I can't recommend it enough
